Bali Packing List: What to Actually Bring in 2026

Bali is tropical-monsoon humid year-round, with a wet season + dry season variant. Here’s what to actually pack — no generic packing-list filler, based on real Bali traveler feedback.

01

Light cotton + linen clothes

Humidity makes synthetic shirts unbearable. 4-6 t-shirts + 2-3 light long-sleeves + 2 pairs of shorts + 1-2 light pants.

02

Swimwear (2-3 sets)

Beach + pool + waterfall swimming. Two sets minimum so one can dry.

03

Reef-safe sunscreen

Bali bans some sunscreens at certain beaches. Bring reef-safe (Stream2Sea, ThinkSport). SPF 50+.

04

Insect repellent with DEET

Dengue prevention. 30% DEET minimum. Use at dawn + dusk.

05

Rehydration salts (DripDrop or LMNT)

Bali Belly affects 60%+ of travelers. Salts speed recovery.

06

Modest temple-visit clothes

Long pants + cover shoulders for temple entry. Sarongs provided at major temples but bring your own.

07

Waterproof phone case

For waterfalls, snorkeling, scooter rides.

08

Power adapter (Type C/F European)

Bali uses European 2-pin sockets, NOT US/UK.

09

Travel insurance docs

Scooter accidents = expensive. Insurance critical.

10

Copy of passport + visa

Many places require ID copy. Bring physical + digital.

11

Light rain jacket

Even in dry season, afternoon showers happen. Avoid bulky raincoats.

12

Comfortable walking sandals

Rice terraces, beach walks, hotel-to-restaurant. Tevas, Chacos, or Birkenstock-style.

13

Cash (small denominations)

Many warungs are cash-only. Bring some USD to exchange or use ATM.

14

Reusable water bottle

Bali Belly comes from tap water. Refill at safe stations (refillbali.com lists 200+).

15

First aid + electrolytes

Pharmacies in Bali are good but get rehydration salts + Imodium before leaving.
