How to Get From Bali Airport (Denpasar) to Ubud, Canggu, and Seminyak
From Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS, Denpasar)
Bali’s airport (DPS) is in southern Bali, close to Kuta and Seminyak but a 60-90 minute drive from Ubud and 45 minutes from Canggu. There’s no train or metro — every option involves a car, so the choice is really between official taxi, Grab/Gojek, or pre-booked private transfer.
Official airport taxi (counter)
Time: 30 min (Seminyak), 60-90 min (Ubud)Cost: 175,000-450,000 IDR ($11-30) depending on destination
Best for
Travelers who want a fixed price without using an app
How it works
Go to the taxi counter past customs. Pay upfront based on destination; you receive a slip and are assigned a driver.
Pros
Fixed price, no negotiation, English-speaking counter staff.
Cons
Significantly more expensive than Grab or Gojek. No flexibility on price.
Grab or Gojek (ride-share)
Time: 30-90 min depending on destinationCost: 70,000-250,000 IDR ($4-16) depending on destination
Best for
Travelers who use ride-share apps and don’t mind walking off the airport property
How it works
Download Grab or Gojek. The airport has tried to block ride-share pickups from inside — walk past the official taxi area to the designated pickup zone outside the airport.
Pros
Cheapest option by a wide margin. Fixed app-based price.
Cons
Pickup logistics are confusing. Drivers sometimes cancel due to airport disputes.
Pre-booked private transfer
Time: 30-90 minCost: $15-30 depending on destination
