Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

Packzup’s commitment: Honest, accurate, locally-grounded travel content. Every article meets the standards below before publication.

Editorial Independence

Packzup writers and editors operate independently of commercial partnerships. We do not:

  • Accept payment to alter recommendations
  • Allow advertisers to influence editorial content
  • Remove honest negative reviews
  • Bury affiliate disclosures

Sourcing Standards

  • Primary sourcing required: Every destination article includes either first-person visits or interviews with people who have been there recently.
  • 3+ source minimum: Factual claims (prices, visa rules, hours) verified against at least 3 sources including 1 official.
  • Recency: Article facts are checked against sources updated within the past 12 months.
  • Cite official sources for visa requirements, vaccinations, currency rules.

Fact-Checking Process

Every Packzup article undergoes:

  1. Self-review by the writer before submission
  2. Editor fact-check independent of the writer
  3. Cross-reference of key claims against primary sources
  4. Annual review (or after major changes — visa rules, prices)

If we publish an error, we correct it openly with a note dated the correction.

Bylines and Author Accountability

Every article has a credited author. Author pages list:

  • Background and qualifications
  • Topic specializations
  • Countries visited (relevant to coverage)
  • Contact information

AI Content Policy

  • No AI-generated articles are published on Packzup.
  • AI may be used for: research assistance, grammar checking, structural suggestions.
  • All written content is reviewed and substantively rewritten by human editors.
  • Final published articles always reflect human judgment and experience.

Sponsored Content

  • Sponsored articles are clearly labeled with “Sponsored” or “Partner Content.”
  • Sponsored content meets the same accuracy standards as editorial content.
  • Sponsors do not see content before publication.
  • We reserve the right to decline any sponsorship that conflicts with our standards.

Complimentary Stays & Experiences

Travel writing often involves complimentary accommodations, tours, or experiences. When this happens:

  • It is disclosed in the article (typically a “Disclosure” note at the top or bottom).
  • The complimentary nature does NOT influence our review.
  • We’ve turned down or returned items that came with implicit expectations.

Corrections Policy

If we make a factual error, we will:

  1. Correct the error in the article
  2. Add a correction note explaining what was changed and when
  3. For major errors: issue a separate correction on social media or in our newsletter

To report a correction: corrections@packzup.com

We welcome questions, corrections, and suggestions from readers. Common ways to engage:

  • Article comments (moderated for spam, kept open for substantive discussion)
  • Email: editor@packzup.com
  • Social media: Instagram, Twitter
  • Newsletter feedback: reply to any newsletter email

Conflicts of Interest

Writers disclose:

  • Family/business relationships with subjects of coverage
