Is tipping really not expected in Japan?
Correct. Tipping in Japan is not customary and can be confusing or mildly offensive. Service is included.
How much in the US?
Typically 18-22% for restaurant service. 15% is the floor. Quick service: 10-15%.
What about Europe?
In much of Europe (Germany, Austria, Netherlands), rounding up to the nearest euro or adding 5-10% is appreciated, not expected.
