How we build the data
Our research rests on two proprietary datasets we maintain: the Travel Cost Index (typical on-the-ground daily spend for 200 countries, in four affordability tiers) and the Best Time to Visit Index (best-weather, wettest and peak-crowd windows for 26 major destinations). Reports cross-reference these to answer questions travelers actually ask — where is cheapest, when is best, and when is best value. We state methodology and limitations openly on every study, never invent statistics, and update the data as conditions change.
