The commitments that decide what we will and will not publish, including the ones that cost us money.
Independence
- We do not accept press trips, comped stays, free tours or gifted travel in exchange for coverage.
- We do not sell coverage. There are no paid placements, sponsored guides or paid reviews on this site.
- Advertisers and affiliate partners have no input into what we publish, how we rank anything, or when a verdict changes.
- No advertiser or partner sees an article before it goes live.
Commercial relationships are disclosed, not hidden
We are funded by display advertising and two affiliate programmes, both named on how we make money. Affiliate links are marked in the HTML with rel="sponsored nofollow" and visually separated from editorial content. If a better option earns us nothing, it still gets the recommendation.
Saying the unhelpful thing
The commercially attractive verdict is almost always “yes, go, book it”. We publish the other answer when it is the true one — that an attraction is overrated, that a month is the wrong month, that a cheaper or free alternative is better. That habit is the entire point of the site.
Named accountability
Articles carry a named writer with a biography, not a house byline. Readers can see who made a judgement and challenge it. Our writers are John Morrison and Drew Treasury.
Sources and evidence
Requirements and rules are checked against primary sources — official portals, operators, transport companies — not against other travel blogs. Where we publish data rather than opinion, we publish the underlying dataset too, openly, at travel datasets, so anyone can check our working.
Corrections
Errors get fixed in the page, and the reporter gets a reply. See our corrections policy.
Holding us to it
If you see anything on this site that breaches the above, tell us: editorial@packzup.com. That is a correction, and we treat it as one.
