Peru spans Pacific coast (Lima), Andean highlands (Cusco, 3,400m), Amazon basin (Iquitos). Visa-free for most Western travelers. Cusco altitude requires 2-3 day acclimatization before strenuous activity.

Spanish + Quechua (in Andean regions). English common in tourism but limited elsewhere.
Currency
Peruvian Sol (PEN). USD often accepted at tourist sites. ATMs widely available.
Best time to visit
May-September is the dry season and unambiguous best time (Cusco/Machu Picchu). November-March is wet but lower prices.
