Day 1

The transfer mistake that can cost you a resort night
Your flight time decides your transfer, and most people get this backwards. Seaplanes only fly in daylight, roughly 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, because Maldivian rules forbid them after dark. So if your international flight lands at, say, 4:00 pm and your resort is seaplane-only, you do not reach the island that day. You overnight in Male, paying $150 to $300 for a hotel plus forfeiting a resort night that can run $500 to $2,000. Book a morning or early-afternoon arrival when your resort uses a seaplane.
Seaplane transfers are not optional add-ons. A shared roundtrip runs about $290 to $700 per person, averaging near $650, and it is billed on top of the room rate. For two people that is real money.
Domestic flights fly after sunset. If you can only get a late arrival, pick a resort reached by domestic flight plus speedboat rather than seaplane.
You cannot island-hop freely between resorts. Each resort is its own island with one transfer operator, so a multi-resort plan in five days means paying full transfers twice over.
