Bangkok for digital nomads
Bangkok for Digital Nomads: Guide
Bangkok offers low cost + excellent infrastructure + thriving nomad scene, especially in Sukhumvit + Silom + Ari neighborhoods. Plus the new Thai DTV Digital Nomad Visa makes long stays easier. Here's the picture.
Visa
60-day tourist visa free for most Western nationals. Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) launched, 5-year visa for remote workers.
Cost of living (monthly)
1BR Sukhumvit/Asok: 15,000-30,000 THB ($430-870). Quieter neighborhoods: 10,000-18,000 THB ($290-520). Coworking: 5,000-10,000 THB ($145-290). Food: 12,000-20,000 THB ($350-580). Total: $1,500-3,500/month comfortable.
Internet
Excellent — 200-1000 mbps fiber. Most cafes have reliable WiFi. 5G coverage in central Bangkok.
Coworking spaces
The Hive (multiple locations). Hubba. The Common Ground. JustCo. Glowfish. The Work Loft. 6,000-15,000 THB/month.
Best neighborhoods
Sukhumvit (Asok, Phrom Phong, Thonglor, Ekkamai): main nomad hub, BTS-linked. Silom (business district). Ari (younger, hipper). Aaron's recommendation: Ari for nomads who want less farang scene.
Community
Large scene. Bangkok Digital Nomads + Bangkok Nomad Coffee meetups. Multiple Slack/Telegram groups. Bali ↔ Bangkok ↔ Chiang Mai nomad migration loop.
Healthcare
Bumrungrad International + BNH Hospital. Top at lower cost. Travel/expat insurance $40-100/month.
Weather
Tropical year-round, hot + humid. November-February (cool dry): 25-32°C ideal. March-May (hot): 32-40°C uncomfortable. June-October (wet): afternoon storms.
Downsides
Air pollution (PM2.5 regularly 50-150). Heat is brutal March-May. Traffic chaos. Long-stay visa logistics. Less cultural depth than Chiang Mai for some.
