Cyber Monday 2026 falls on Monday 30 November, three days after Black Friday on the 27th. The two are not the same sale and it matters which one you wait for: Black Friday is when airlines and hotel groups run their headline fare and rate promotions, while Cyber Monday skews online - booking platforms, tour operators, cruise lines, travel gear, insurance and points transfer bonuses. If you want a flight, watch the Friday. If you want a package, a cruise, luggage or a camera, the Monday is usually the better day.
| Category | Which day is better | What a real discount looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Airline fares | Black Friday | A named sale with fixed travel windows and a booking deadline |
| Hotel rates | Black Friday and the weekend | 20-40 per cent off flexible rates, often with a long booking window |
| Package and tour operators | Cyber Monday | Per-person savings on a specific departure date, not a percentage off a made-up price |
| Cruise lines | Cyber Monday | Onboard credit and free drinks packages more often than cut fares |
| Travel gear and luggage | Cyber Monday | The deepest discounts of the year on last season's colours |
| Travel insurance | Cyber Monday | 10-20 per cent, and rarely worth switching insurer for |
| Points and miles transfers | Either | A transfer bonus of 20-30 per cent, which is the best value on offer |
| Car hire | Neither | Prices move on supply, not on the calendar |
How Cyber Monday travel deals actually work
The blunt version: most travel is not discounted on Cyber Monday, it is re-priced. A hotel that shows 45 per cent off has usually had its rack rate raised in the preceding weeks, and the sale price is close to what you would have paid anyway. The deals that are genuinely good share three features - a fixed travel window, a hard booking deadline, and a price you can verify against a screenshot you took in October.
That is the single most useful thing you can do before 30 November: shortlist four or five specific things you actually want, record today's price for each, and compare on the day. Without a baseline you have no way to tell a discount from a headline.
What to buy on Cyber Monday 2026, by category

Packages and escorted tours. This is the category where Cyber Monday genuinely delivers. Operators discount specific departures they need to fill, and the saving is quoted per person against a real published price. Look for departures in the shoulder months - late April, May, September, October - because those are the ones operators most need to sell.
Cruises. Cyber Monday cruise offers are usually value-adds rather than fare cuts: onboard credit, drinks packages, free gratuities, kids sail free. Work out what those are worth to you in cash before comparing, because an extra 500 dollars of onboard credit is only a discount if you were going to spend it.
Gear. Luggage, cameras, headphones, jackets and packing kit see their deepest discounts of the year on Cyber Monday, and unlike travel itself the price is unambiguous. Last season's colourway of a current suitcase is routinely 40 per cent off.
Points transfer bonuses. Often the highest-value item on the whole weekend and the one most people miss. A 30 per cent transfer bonus from a flexible currency to an airline programme can be worth more than any cash discount on offer - but only transfer when you have a specific award in mind, because transfers are one-way and irreversible.
How to tell a real travel discount from a reprice
Check the booking window, not the discount. A genuine sale specifies when you must book and when you must travel. Offers with no deadline are permanent pricing with a sale badge.
Price the same thing two ways. Put the package components - flight, hotel, transfer - into separate tabs and add them up. Packages often win, but not always, and the gap is the real number.
Watch the cancellation terms. Sale rates are frequently non-refundable. A 25 per cent discount on a trip you might not take is not a saving, and in a year with as many fixed events as 2027 and 2028, flexibility has real value.
Use a price-history tool where one exists. For flights, fare-tracking alerts set weeks earlier will tell you far more than any sale page. For hotels, your own October screenshot is the best record you will get.
A realistic timeline for the 2026 sales week

Early November: shortlist and screenshot prices. Set fare alerts for the specific routes you want. Sign up to the newsletters of the two or three operators you would genuinely book, because the best offers are frequently emailed before they are published.
Thanksgiving week (Thanksgiving falls on 26 November 2026): airline sales often start early, sometimes on the Monday or Tuesday. Do not assume Friday is the first day.
Black Friday, 27 November: flights and hotel rates. This is the day for anything airline or hotel-branded.
The weekend: smaller operators and independent hotels, which frequently run a longer, quieter sale than the big brands.
Cyber Monday, 30 November: online travel agencies, tour operators, cruise lines, gear, insurance and transfer bonuses. Many offers now run to the following weekend, so a missed Monday is rarely fatal.
December: the January sales start in the last week of December for many operators, and for summer 2027 departures those are often better than anything in November.

Frequently asked questions
When is Cyber Monday 2026?
Monday 30 November 2026. Black Friday is 27 November and Thanksgiving is 26 November. Many travel offers now run from the Monday before Thanksgiving through to the following weekend rather than on a single day.
Are Cyber Monday travel deals actually cheaper?
Some are. Package holidays, escorted tours, cruises, travel gear and points transfer bonuses genuinely drop. Flights and hotels are more often repriced than discounted, which is why recording prices in early November is the only reliable way to tell.
Is Black Friday or Cyber Monday better for travel?
Black Friday for airline fares and hotel-brand rates; Cyber Monday for online travel agencies, tour operators, cruise lines, luggage and gear. If you want a flight, watch the Friday. If you want a package or equipment, wait for the Monday.
What should I book on Cyber Monday?
Specific tour or cruise departures the operator needs to fill, travel gear, and any points transfer bonus you have a concrete award in mind for. Avoid non-refundable rates for trips you are not certain about.
