November is Marrakech at its most underrated. The city settles to about 23°C by day and 11°C at night, the October peak ends and rates fall, the Atlas takes its first snow, and the Marrakech International Film Festival usually brings a week of free public screenings to Jemaa el-Fna. It is the last comfortable month before the winter cold, at a fraction of the April price.
Why November works
October and April are the two peak months, and November gives you most of what October does – warm days, cool evenings, workable desert, clear light – with the crowds and the prices falling away through the month.
The trade-off is the nights, which drop to around 11°C and keep falling. Riad heating starts to matter again, as it does through to March.

The Film Festival
The Marrakech International Film Festival is normally held over about a week in late November or early December. Alongside the ticketed competition programme, it stages free public screenings on a giant outdoor screen in Jemaa el-Fna – usually popular Moroccan and international films, with several thousand people watching in the open square.
That is the part worth planning around: it is free, it is genuinely local rather than a red-carpet spectator event, and watching a film in the main square of the medina is a specific experience. Dates are announced annually.
Weather
November averages about 23°C by day and 11°C at night, with roughly 30 mm of rain – one of the wetter months, which still means a handful of showers. The days are warm in the sun and the evenings need a jacket.
The first snow usually falls on the High Atlas in November, and the Koutoubia-with-white-mountains view returns.
The two national days
- Saturday 6 November – the anniversary of the Green March, a national public holiday.
- Thursday 18 November – Independence Day, a national public holiday.
Both close banks and government offices; the medina and tourist sites operate normally, with flags and decorations across the city.
What November is for
- Value. October weather at falling prices, improving through the month.
- The desert, which is at its best – Agafay and Merzouga both in season, with warm days and cold nights that suit a camp.
- The medina all day, comfortably.
- The film festival, if the dates align.
- The first Atlas snow, and the view it restores.
Prices and crowds
Falling through the month from the October peak. Late November is one of the better-value stretches of the year – genuinely good weather, few crowds, and riad rates well below April and October.

What to pack
Layers, with a real jacket for the evenings and for unheated riads. Sun protection for the days, which are still strong. Modest clothing for the medina, and warm gear if you are camping in the desert, where November nights are genuinely cold. See the Morocco packing list.
