Things to Do in Bahamas: What Is Actually Worth Your Time
Quick answer: This is an honest look at what is genuinely worth your time in Bahamas, including the spot most visitors never reach.

The Atlantis Aquaventure day pass is the classic tourist trap here. Non-guests pay around $195 per adult to ride the slides at the resort on Paradise Island, and that price climbs sharply over spring break and holiday weeks. Unless you have kids set on the lazy river, your money goes further elsewhere. Spend an afternoon instead at the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex, where the Queen’s Staircase, 66 limestone steps cut by hand in the 1790s, costs nothing and is open daily from roughly 8am to 5pm. The hilltop fort behind it gives you the best free harbour view in town.
The pick most cruise visitors miss is Ardastra Gardens and Wildlife Conservation Centre, a short ride from downtown, where the marching flamingos perform at 10:30am, 2:15pm and 4:00pm and adult entry runs about $16. It is calmer and far cheaper than the big resort attractions.
- Beach move: Junkanoo Beach is free and a 15-minute walk (about 0.7 miles) west of the cruise port, but it gets packed. For finer sand, hop the public jitney from George Street to Cable Beach for around $1.50 each way.
