Dubai in April: The Best Swimming Month, and Prices Start to Fall

Reviewed September 2026

April is the value month. The heat arrives – about 33°C by day, climbing through the month – but the sea reaches a near-perfect 25°C and hotel rates fall away from the winter peak. If your trip is built around a beach, a pool and air-conditioned evenings, April gives you most of what January does for a good deal less.

The weather, precisely

April is really two months. The first half is a warm, pleasant extension of spring: high twenties to low thirties, still fine for a morning walk through old Dubai. The second half tips over – 35°C days appear, midday outdoors becomes genuinely unpleasant, and the city starts moving indoors for the summer.

The shamal dust winds are still possible into April, hazing the skyline for a day or two at a time.

Why April works

  • The sea is at 25°C – warm enough to be genuinely enjoyable, not yet the bath-like 33°C of July. For swimming rather than sunbathing, April is the best month of the year.
  • Prices drop. Rates fall clearly from the January-to-March peak, particularly in the second half of the month, without the extreme conditions of summer.
  • Evenings are comfortable at around 22°C, so outdoor dining and rooftops still work after dark for most of the month.
  • It is quieter than the winter season everywhere – attractions, beaches and restaurants.

With the sea at about 25°C, April is the best swimming month of the year – warm without being tepid.

How to structure an April day

From mid-April, the shape of a good day changes and it is worth planning for:

  • Early morning – anything outdoors. Old Dubai, the Creek, the souks, a beach walk. Before 10am.
  • Midday to late afternoon – indoors or in water. Malls, museums, the aquarium, a hotel pool, the Burj Khalifa observation decks.
  • Evening – outdoors again. The fountain show, the marina, a rooftop, a beach club, or an evening desert safari.

Desert safaris shift almost entirely to afternoon and evening departures from April. A midday dune drive in 35°C is not a good experience.

What closes

Global Village ends its season around late April, and the Miracle Garden closes for the summer around May. Several outdoor venues, beach clubs with no shade and open-air market events wind down through the month. If either of those two parks is on your list, go in the first half of April or plan the trip earlier in the year.

Prices and crowds

This is the start of the shoulder season and one of the two best value-for-weather windows in the year, the other being November. Rates ease week by week through April. Flights follow a similar curve. See what a Dubai trip costs.

What to pack

Light, loose summer clothing and swimwear. You no longer need an evening layer beyond something for aggressive air conditioning indoors – which is a real issue in Dubai and worth a light cardigan or shirt. Strong sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. Modest options for mosques, souks and older districts. A refillable water bottle.

Is April a good time to visit Dubai?

It is one of the best value months. The sea is at its most pleasant, evenings are still comfortable, the city is quieter, and rates have dropped from the winter peak.

Can you swim in Dubai in April?

Yes – it is arguably the best swimming month. The Gulf is around 25°C, warm enough to be enjoyable without the tepid feel it gets in July and August.

Is Global Village open in April?

For most of it. The season normally ends around late April, with exact dates announced annually. The Miracle Garden usually runs a few weeks longer, to about May.

Not in the evening. From April, operators shift to afternoon and evening departures, which is the right way to do it – a midday dune drive at 35°C is unpleasant.

Is Dubai cheaper in April?

Yes. Rates ease week by week from the January-to-March peak, with the second half of the month noticeably cheaper than the first.

Do I need a jacket in Dubai in April?

Not for the weather – evenings sit around 22°C. You may want a light layer indoors, because air conditioning in malls, restaurants and taxis is set very cold.
