Humidity makes the coast feel worse than the thermometer says. Whether that is a bargain or a mistake depends entirely on the trip you plan.
The weather, precisely
The honest version: the humidity is the problem, not the temperature. July combines 41°C with coastal humidity that regularly pushes the heat index past 50°C. Glasses fog the moment you step outside. Ten minutes of walking is genuinely draining.
Inland – the desert, Hatta, the fringes – is hotter on paper and more bearable in practice, because it is dry.
Who July actually suits
This is worth being blunt about, because July is sold hard on price.
- It works for a hotel-led trip: a good property with a chilled pool, waterparks, malls, indoor attractions, late dinners, and no ambition to walk anywhere. Families do very well in July, because the entire indoor entertainment economy is built for it.
- It does not work for a first visit where you want to see the city, the old quarters, the Creek, the souks and the desert properly. You will spend the week indoors and feel you missed it. Go in November or March instead.
What is on
- Dubai Summer Surprises runs through July and August – citywide retail promotions, mall entertainment, raffles and family programming. It is the summer counterpart to the winter Shopping Festival, and it is the reason the malls are busy.
- Waterparks – Aquaventure and Wild Wadi, the one genuinely good outdoor option.
- Ski Dubai, which in July is less a novelty than a relief.
- Indoor attractions – Museum of the Future, the Dubai Frame, the aquarium, the Burj Khalifa decks – all at their quietest.
- Evening desert safaris, well after sunset.

July and August are the cheapest months of the Dubai year. Five-star hotels that are unreachable in January become ordinary purchases, flights are at their lowest, and attractions have no queues. What to pack
Loose, light, covering clothing – less fabric does not help. A wide hat, the strongest sunscreen you will actually reapply, and sunglasses. A real layer for indoors: the swing between 41°C outside and heavily air-conditioned interiors is the most common cause of a ruined day.
